Find Out What Coquitlam Has to Offer on Sept. 20

COQUITLAM, BC, September 12, 2017 – Want to learn more about Coquitlam? Both new and long-time residents can find out what their city has to offer at the annual Welcome to Coquitlam event on Sept. 20.

Held from 2 – 8 p.m. at City Hall (3000 Guildford Way), the free event showcases City and community-based programs and services, and is designed to both welcome newcomers and to help them and all residents get the most out of the community.

Those who attend can speak to staff and City Council about a range of City programs and services, such as finance and property taxes, recycling and garbage services, parks and recreation activities and employment and volunteer opportunities. They can also learn about and sign up for Coquitlam’s new online survey community, Viewpoint.

Representatives from approximately 15 community agencies will also be on hand to connectwith event participants and talk about what they do.

  • Community Living BC
  • Community Volunteer Connections
  • Disability Alliance of BC 
  • Douglas College
  • Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISSofBC)
  • School District No. 43
  • Seniors Planning Network
  • SHARE Family & Community Services
  • S.U.C.C.E.S.S.
  • TransLink
  • Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce 
  • Tri-Cities Local Immigration Partnership

Translators will also be available for those requiring assistance.

One of the highlights each year is the vehicles on display on Burlington Drive from 2-5 p.m. for tours and photos, including a Coquitlam Fire/Rescue Truck and City Public Works vehicles.

Anyone interested in learning more about Coquitlam is encouraged to attend. 

Almost 3,000 people have participated in Welcome to Coquitlam in the six years the City has hosted the event.

Attendees are encouraged to take transit, walk, cycle or carpool to the event, as parking is limited around City Hall.
