Expand Your Horizons at Coquitlam’s Cultural Summit

COQUITLAM, BC, Oct. 16, 2017 – Get the creative juices flowing in Coquitlam on Nov. 4, 2017 as local leaders in arts, culture and heritage come together to share their stories and experiences at the City’s first Cultural Summit.

This one day conference features panel discussions, a round-table workshop, live entertainment, and presentations from a series of speakers, including keynote speaker Howard R. Jang, a Simon Fraser University Professor of Professional Practice in the School for the Contemporary Arts, and the Director of the Simon Fraser University Woodward’s Cultural Unit.

Other Summit speakers include:

  • Carrie Nimmo: Manager of Cultural Development and Community Services, Port Coquitlam
  • Leanne Christie: Urban Oil Painter
  • Joan McCauley: Executive Director, Place des Arts
  • Fiona Black: Director of Programming, Capilano University Centre for the Performing Arts
  • Nancy Cottingham Powell: Executive Director, North Vancouver Community Arts Council
  • Dave Seaweed: Aboriginal Student Services Coordinator, Douglas College

The Summit is designed to bring together creative and cultural leaders from Coquitlam and across the Lower Mainland to explore and build leadership in fostering collaboration, communication and co-operation in arts, culture and heritage in Coquitlam.  Hosting an annual cultural summit is one of the top ten actions of the 2015 - 2030 Arts, Culture & Heritage Strategic Plan (ACHSP). 

The Summit is on Nov. 4, 2017 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and tickets are $25.00 per person, which includes lunch and coffee service.
