Get App to Stay on Top of Holiday Collection Day Changes

by Heather Escaravage |

COQUITLAM, BC, Feb. 8, 2018 – Coquitlam’s waste collection schedule will shift a day the week of the Family Day holiday, but residents using the City’s ReCollect reminder service won’t have to worry about missing their new day.

Available on the Collection Calendar webpage, the free app provides single-family households with a personalized curbside collection schedule and electronic reminders for when to put out their green and garbage carts.

The reminders are particularly timely when the collection schedule changes – such as after statutory holidays, when collection shifts a day for that week. The app is also useful for receiving messages about service disruptions, wildlife alerts, or reminders about special city services, such as, seasonal yard trimmings collection.

ReCollect users can set up smartphone, email, text or Twitter alerts; upload their personalized schedule into their own calendar (iCal, Outlook or Google); and go to the webpage to print out a copy.

They can also search the app’s Waste Wizard to find out how to properly recycle, compost or dispose of a particular item.

More information, download links and an online version of ReCollect can be found on the Collection Calendar webpage

The app only covers waste services provided by the City. Recycle BC, which provides Coquitlam’s recycling service, offers a similar notification app and can be accessed through a link on the same webpage.

Multi-family complexes, which pay for and manage their own waste services, should contact their property manager or strata for collection information.
