Survey Open on Oakdale Neighbourhood

by Colleen Smith |

COQUITLAM, BC, Monday, April 9, 2018 – Residents can provide their input on the future of the Oakdale neighbourhood as the City of Coquitlam takes its first step with the Oakdale Land Use Designation Update (OLUDU) process.

Residents can complete a survey on the City’s website at www.coquitlam.ca/oakdale to offer their perspectives on what they think Oakdale should look like in 25 years. The deadline for responses is April 23, 2018.

During the preparation of the Burquitlam-Lougheed Neighbourhood Plan, a series of land use options were presented for different parts of the plan area. Most areas were able to reach consensus on proposed changes to land use designations.

However, a consensus was not reached for Oakdale and it was designated a Future Planning Area with direction to review and determine appropriate land uses through a separate future planning process.

That process is now underway and the survey is the first of several opportunities for residents to provide input. Responses will help guide outreach and community information sessions over the next year.

The OLUDU will focus on a review and potential update to current land use designations as well as a review of related transportation, servicing and streetscape constraints and opportunities.

Residents will have the opportunity to provide direct feedback on potential land-use designations for the neighbourhood through future consultation.

Complete information on the Oakdale Land Use Designation Update process is available at www.coquitlam.ca/oakdale.
