Take in the Sights from Local Hiking Trails

COQUITLAM, BC, April 11, 2018 – The City of Coquitlam has some awesome new hikes for you to try this spring. So grab your friends or meet new hiking buddies while taking in the gorgeous views on our local trails.

Westwood Plateau | Sunday, May 6, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. 
Explore your own backyard on this intermediate hike through the Westwood Plateau neighbourhood. Starting from the Pinetree Community Centre, you'll take in the mix of greenways and urban streets before hiking into the forest of Ridge Park. There will be a chance for great views overlooking Coquitlam and beyond. Roundtrip distance is 12 kilometers with an elevation gain of 400 meters. The hike costs $9.25 to participate. Line Trail Loop | Wednesday, May 23, 6 – 9 p.m. 
Get some fresh air after work on this beginner hike. Ascending up mountain bike trails and old roads to the top of the power lines on Burke Mountain, this hike will take in views of Eagle Ridge and Pitt Meadows. As you hike you’ll be able to see the reappearing spring vegetation in a mature second growth forest. Roundtrip distance is 5.4 kilometres with an elevation gain of 300 meters. The cost to participate is only $6.25. Register using barcode 629130. 

All hikes are open to those 12 years and up; however, children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult on the hike. Hikers can register for these programs and more on the Outdoors webpage or call 604-927-4386.
