Summer Concert Series to Open with Jazz

COQUITLAM, BC, July 10, 2018 – Enjoy the sounds of jazz music in a spectacular outdoor setting as Coquitlam’s Summer Concert Series kicks off this Friday, July 13 on the TD Community Plaza stage at Town Centre Park. 

This free event is the first of three shows to take place throughout summer at the TD Community Plaza with each night focusing on a different genre offering something for every musical taste. 

On the opening night, jazz lovers will enjoy the sounds of the Beauty Shop Dolls, a vocal group with a charming, colourful take on the classic stylings of The Andrew Sisters and The Chordettes.   From the 1920's jazz standards to 50's and 60's doo-wop, these dolls know how to woo any crowd into an old fashioned love affair.

The second performance will feature the big bold sounds of twice nominated National Jazz Awards 'best jazz clarinetist'and LEO award-winning composer/performer James Danderfer and The Hummingbird Brigade. This 10-piece brass band will provide a jubilant salute to the funky spirit of New Orleans sure to get your toes tapping and your hips swaying.

Aug. 3 - Classic Rock Night 
  Kevin & Paul | 7 – 7:45 p.m.
  The Cancons | 8:15 – 9 p.m.

Sept. 7 - Motown Night 
  KOKOSOUL | 7 – 7:45 p.m.
  The Hitsville USA Band | 8:15 – 9 p.m.

The TD Community Plaza is nestled along Lafarge Lake, offering views of the water and city skyline, and has seating for up to 1,300 in addition to grassy spaces to lay out blankets. Concert-goers are invited to bring blankets or chairs and can pack a picnic or grab a bite from an on-site food vendor.

Located at 1299 Pinetree Way, Town Centre Park is easily accessed by transit from Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain station and has ample free parking in Lot D.
