Have Your Say on Coquitlam’s 2019 Budget

by Michelle Frilund |

COQUITLAM, BC, Oct. 30, 2018 – If you’ve always wanted to tell City Council how they should spend your tax dollars, now is your chance to provide input.

About Citizen Budget
From Nov. 1 – 30, Coquitlam residents can design their own mock budget for the City using the interactive Citizen Budget tool at www.coquitlam.ca/budget.

The Citizen Budget process takes about eight minutes to complete and is accessible on any computer or mobile device.

You will be provided with a mock property tax bill, and then asked to assign funding levels to various service areas such as garbage pickup, recreation, roads or fire. As you assign funding levels, you will see the immediate impacts to your mock tax bill.

Complete the survey and share your budget on social media to encourage others to participate too.

Citizen Budget To Date
Coquitlam has used Citizen Budget each year since 2014 to gain insights about what services community members value most and least, while also giving residents a chance to provide meaningful input.

Each year’s citizen-designed budgets play a key role in City decisions about services and funding levels in the upcoming budget. City Council will be considering the next budget in January 2019.
