New Online Tool Provides Local Data to Businesses

by Kevin Henkelman |

COQUITLAM, BC, Apr. 24, 2019 – The City of Coquitlam has launched a new online tool to provide the customized local data that businesses need to be competitive and thrive.

The Economic Development Tool, which is free to use and can be tailored to specific industries, allows anyone starting or growing a business – including entrepreneurs, existing businesses and site selectors – to search for data on the local economy, customers, competitors and the workforce.

User-Friendly Tool Enhances Local Business Data

The user-friendly tool is part of the City’s efforts to enhance the availability of local data on Coquitlam and its business environment. This new resource was developed by Local Intel (localintel.co) and the statistics and demographics come from sources such as Statistics Canada, Canada Revenue Agency, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, the City of Coquitlam, and data insight firms such as Dun & Bradstreet and Neustar.

Users are able to access and learn about a variety of data options in the four modules:

  • Review the business climate: Provides information about the general economic environment, including costs, risks and incentives.
  • Research your customers: Identifies potential customers and where they are located.
  • Analyze your competition: Identifies competitors and their locations, and analyzes their strengths, weaknesses and potential impact.
  • Evaluate the workforce: Evaluates the local workforce population based on the business’s needs, and identifies where potential local employees are located.

The information will be updated annually and whenever Statistics Canada releases a significant amount of new data.

To use the new Economic Development Tool, go to www.coquitlam.ca/ecdevstats.
