Don’t Miss This Year’s Coquitlam Celebrates Canada Day

by Caitlin Osborne |

COQUITLAM, BC, May 14, 2019 – Preparations are well under way for the 11th annual Coquitlam Celebrates Canada Day, with many sponsors, entertainers, vendors and food and beverage purveyors already locked in.

Residents will want to mark their calendar for the free festival July 1 at Town Centre Park, featuring an improved festival area, popular Vancouver party band Ten Souljers as the grand finale performer, and a full day of family activities, entertainment, food and fireworks.

Corporate Partners Lend Their Support to Provide Free Event

Marcon is returning for a second year as the presenting partner for Coquitlam’s premier event, which last year drew more than 70,000 people from across the Tri-Cities and beyond. A Metro Vancouver housing developer, Marcon is known in Coquitlam for projects such as 567 Clark + Como and Regan’s Walk.

In addition, TD Bank is back again as the Plaza Stage Partner, along with Coquitlam Chrysler as the Eat Street Partner, and Mariner Brewing as the Beverage Partner through the City’s Corporate Partnership Program, which seeks partnerships with businesses to offset costs.

Full Day of Family-Friendly Fun and Fireworks Finale

Kicking off at noon, Coquitlam Celebrates Canada Day will feature family-friendly live music and dance on two stages, food trucks, children’s entertainment, youth activities, arts and crafts, craft beverages and site-wide licensing, community displays, vendors, and fireworks over Lafarge Lake at nightfall.

Headliners Ten Souljers, a high-energy 11-piece band with three vocalists, will take to the TD Performance Stage at approximately 8:30 p.m., revving up the audience with a mix of classic and current Canadian rock hits.

More information about Coquitlam Celebrates Canada Day activities and performers will be posted at coquitlam.ca/canadaday closer to the event.

New Festival Lawn With Expand Event Site

This year’s Canada Day crowd will be among the first to enjoy the park’s expanded festival space, thanks to the rollout of the Town Centre Park Master Plan

Opening in time for Canada Day, a new 8,000-square-metre (86,000-square-foot) festival lawn near the TD Community Plaza will offer more open space and an expanded event site.
