Improvements Coming to Town Centre Park Tennis Courts

by Caitlin Osborne |

COQUITLAM, BC, May 28, 2019 Work will begin in June on improvements to four of the eight tennis courts at Town Centre Park.

One court will be closed for three days in June for asphalt repairs at the southwest corner, and the four southern courts will be closed for two weeks in July and August for new colour-coating and line markings. The park’s other tennis courts will remain open while the work takes place.

Exact dates are not yet known because the work is weather-dependent. Users are advised to monitor the City of Coquitlam’s social media (Facebook, Twitter) or check coquitlam.ca/tennis for updates and for information about the community’s other tennis facilities, which include 34 outdoor tennis courts, two outdoor half-tennis courts, and five indoor courts at the City’s partner The Tennis Centre – Coquitlam.

The improvements at Town Centre Park stem from the 2017-2037 Tennis and Pickleball Services and Facilities Strategy, which outlines the City’s plans to meet the growing demand for the two sports in the coming years. The strategy includes a framework to ensure the appropriate capital investment is made in both new courts and maintenance of existing ones.

Other 2019 projects include major upgrades currently taking place at the Eagle Ridge Park courts, including new asphalt surfacing, synthetic coating and fencing, as well as colour-coating and line markings at the Blue Mountain Park courts, requiring a two-week closure in August and September.

For information about the project, contact Parks Customer Service at 604-927-6300 or parks@coquitlam.ca. Updates will be posted at coquitlam.ca/tennis as they become available.
