Experience Kaleidoscope Arts Festival This Weekend

by Robbin Whachell |

COQUITLAM, BC, Aug. 6, 2019 – If top indie musicians, interactive art experiences, a site-wide liquor licence and free admission sound appealing, plan to be in Coquitlam this Saturday for the fourth annual Kaleidoscope Arts Festival.

The free arts and music event will bring a street-festival vibe to Town Centre Park, with Current Swell, Terra Lightfoot and Royal Canoe on the TD Community Plaza stage overlooking beautiful Lafarge Lake, along with off-stage music and dance performances, opportunities to make art and watch artists at work, an artisan market, food trucks, and craft brews and spirits. Located steps from the Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain station, Kaleidoscope will run from 2 to 9 p.m.

Immerse Yourself in the Arts

You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy a hands-on art experience at Kaleidoscope. Pick up a brush and contribute to the Paintillio paint-by-numbers mural, and add your own touches to artist Richard Tetrault’s 128-square-foot mural. Or stand back and get inspired as Sandeep Johal unleashes her creativity on an 80-square-foot wall mural.

As you wander the festival site with your craft brew or spirit in hand – thanks to the event’s open liquor licensing – watch for live music by Gamelan Bike Bike, Disco Funeral and Etienne Siew, and dance performances by Blink Acro and Hip Hop Hoop Dance.
