Register for Coquitlam’s Fall City-Wide Garage Sale & Giveaway Event

by Colleen Smith |

COQUITLAM, BC August 26, 2019 – As you begin all your back-to-school and fall preparations, consider registering for Coquitlam’s City-Wide Garage Sale and Giveaway Event taking place Saturday, Sept. 28 and Sunday, Sept. 29.

Registration is open, Monday, Aug. 26 – Monday, Sept. 16 for this inaugural weekend event much like the City’s spring City-Wide Garage Sale. For the fall, Coquitlam has expanded to both Saturday and Sunday and included giveaway opportunities providing residents more options to reduce, reuse and recycle gently used household items.

The spring 2019 event included more than 200 participating households and because of its success, the City is adding a second garage sale event in the fall to help residents sell and give away unwanted but still usable household items preventing them from going to the landfill.

The City will promote garage sale and giveaway locations held in Coquitlam on Saturday, Sept. 28 and Sunday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. each day at no cost to registered participants. This event is open to single-family and duplex homes, as well as multi-family homes who confirm the property owner, property manager or Strata has approved.

Residents have until Monday, Sept. 16 to register either online or in person:

  • Register online at www.coquitlam.ca/garagesale, or
  • Pick up a registration package from the Engineering & Public Works Department on the Ground Floor at Coquitlam City Hall (3000 Guildford Way) between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.

After registering, residents will receive an event package with helpful tips and the City will advertise a listing of all the participating addresses and provide a map online to make it easier for interested shoppers to find the participating homes.

Online registration and all details available at www.coquitlam.ca/garagesale.
