More Recreation Coming to Burke Mountain this Fall

COQUITLAM, BC, Sept. 16, 2019 – Residents of Burke Mountain will have access to more recreational programming at Smiling Creek Activity Centre this fall.

Conveniently located within Smiling Creek Elementary School (3456 Princeton Ave.), the activity centre has welcomed Burke Mountain residents of all ages to participate in both drop-in and registered sport and fitness programs, as well as registered dance, cooking, arts and science classes.

Registration is open for fall 2019 programs at Smiling Creek Activity Centre. Register for these programs and more at www.coquitlam.ca/signmeup, call 604-927-4386 or visit one of Coquitlam’s recreation facilities to register in person.

In response to demand, Smiling Creek Activity Centre is expanding its program offerings to include:

Multi-Ball (6 – 8 yrs)

Try a different indoor ball sport every day and refine your throwing, catching, kicking, and striking skills. All abilities welcome!

 From Sept. 24 – Oct. 1, the City of Coquitlam will be hosting a contest on Facebook, titled ‘Smiling Creek is turning one!’ During the week, everyone over the age of 19 is welcome to share their favourite memory from a program or drop-in at Smiling Creek Activity Centre in the comments of the related Facebook post. Once you have commented on the post, you will be entered to win a $50 Coquitlam Parks, Recreation & Culture Gift Card to use at the facility. Entries must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 1. Winner will be chosen by random draw on Oct. 2.

About Smiling Creek Activity Centre

Smiling Creek Activity Centre, located at 3456 Princeton Ave., opened in the fall of 2018 and provides the growing Burke Mountain community with recreation programs close to home. It is located within Smiling Creek Elementary School (3456 Princeton Ave.) and is a shared facility between School District 43 and the City of Coquitlam. The activity centre offers recreation programming during the evenings and weekends in the school’s gymnasium, multi-purpose room, sports courts, playgrounds and other facilities.
