Coquitlam Resident Wins for Being Neighbourly

by Michelle Frilund |

COQUITLAM, BC, November 24, 2015 – Next summer will be a tasty one for Coquitlam resident Michele Keepence thanks to Fortis BC and the City of Coquitlam.

Keepence is the lucky winner of a Napoleon Prestige stainless steel natural gas bar-b-que – and all she had to do was throw a party with her neighbours.

As part of the City’s 2015 Block Party program, residents who hosted block parties not only received a $150 grant to help with the party, but were also entered into a contest sponsored by Fortis BC.

In addition to the grand prize, six residents also won Energy Saving Kits valued at $75 each.

Fortis BC is one of the City of Coquitlam’s enduring Corporate Partners. In addition to this contest, they also support a number of other City initiatives including the Workplace Conservation Awareness Program, the Energy Management and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Program and the Fortis Day of Giving Project.

The 2016 Block Party program will be bigger than ever as the City hosts the 125 Block Party Challenge – encouraging residents to throw 125 block parties throughout the spring and summer to celebrate Coquitlam 125. Applications are being accepted now and information is available at www.coquitlam125.ca.

Coquitlam Corporate Partners is a new marketing partnership between businesses and the City. Though this program, businesses will develop stronger relationships with a diverse city-wide audience, the City will generate additional revenue and residents will benefit from enhanced programs and services.
