Spirit of Coquitlam Grants Available to Support Local Organizations

COQUITLAM, BC, February 22, 2016 – Starting March 1, the City of Coquitlam will be accepting Spirit of Coquitlam Grant applications for the spring 2016 intake. Two information workshops are being held in March and both new and returning applicants are encouraged to attend. 

Spirit of Coquitlam Grants are awarded to local non-profit and community-based organizations for projects focused on events, celebrations and sports hosting, as well as initiatives that have public benefits and enrich the community.

Consideration is also given to organizations engaging in public art, encouraging people to get active, or developing new initiatives aligned with the Coquitlam 125 anniversary celebrations or Coquitlam 2016 55+ BC Games. 

Successful Spirit of Coquitlam grant projects must have outcomes that align with the City’s strategic goals, as well as meet eligibility criteria including:

  • Applicant is not-for-profit organization that has been in existence for a minimum of one year.
  • Applicant is not-for-profit organization that has been in existence for a minimum of one year.
  • At least 60% of the people who will benefit from the project are Coquitlam residents.
  • The project, event, or activity occurs in Coquitlam.
  • The proposed project, event, or activity will be sustainable past the support of the grant funding.

Funding for the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program is derived from the Casino Host Agreement revenue received from the Hard Rock Casino. Since 2002, the City of Coquitlam has awarded $7.36 million to over 185 different organizations through the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant program.

Grant Application Workshops

Those planning to apply for the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant are encouraged to attend one of two workshops, which will provide step-by-step instructions for completing the grant application process. Even returning applicants will benefit.

Pre-registration is required. Workshops will be held at Pinetree Community Centre, 1260 Pinetree Way on:
