by Heather Escaravage |

COQUITLAM, BC, Dec. 6, 2017 – Coquitlam residents can now sign up to receive their dog licence renewal notices by email, instead of waiting for a paper copy to be mailed.

To sign up, residents need to register for a myCoquitlam account or add their dog account to an existing myCoquitlam account. Register for a myCoquitlam account at A dog licence Account Number and Access Code that can be found on previous dog licence renewal notices is needed to register. Residents can call the Animal Shelter at 604-927-PETS(7387) or email to receive those numbers if necessary.

A dog licence helps protect pets by providing an easy-to-identify dog tag and registration with the Coquitlam Animal Shelter. The licence is the fastest way to reunite a lost dog with its owner anywhere in the world.

Fees collected from dog licences help fund the Coquitlam Animal Shelter, which provides safe shelter and care for hundreds of stray and surrendered dogs, cats and other pets each year. The fees also support Coquitlam’s six off-leash dog areas:

  • Bramble Park, 2775 Panorama Drive
  • Glen Park, 1149 Westwood Street
  • Leigh Park, 1254 Soball Street
  • Miller Park, 870 Oakview Street
  • Mundy Park, 501 Mariner Way
  • Ridge Park, 1685 Parkway Boulevard

Dog licences expire December 31 and must be renewed each year. Residents can save money by renewing before Feb. 1, 2018. Visit the Licences & Pet Owner Responsibilities webpage for dog licensing costs and to learn how to renew a dog licence online.
