Annual Welcome to Coquitlam Event Wednesday, Oct. 9

COQUITLAM, BC, Oct. 7, 2019Both new and long-time residents are invited to Coquitlam’s annual Welcome to Coquitlam event on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 2 – 8 p.m. at City Hall (3000 Guildford Way).

The free event highlights City and community-based programs and services and is designed to welcome newcomers and help them get the most out of the community.

Those who attend can speak with staff and City Council about a range of City programs and services. Representatives from more than 20 community agencies will be on hand to connect with event participants and talk about what they do.

Attendees can visit stations to learn something new and find answers to questions and submit their entries for a chance to win great prizes.

Some special activities include:

  • Smoke alarm giveaway (while supplies last)
  • A dollhouse as a guide to demonstrate when a building permit is needed
  • A waste-toss game to learn more about recycling
  • CPR participation and demonstration
  • Fun photo opportunities
  • Virtual Reality walk through of the new City Centre Area Plan
  • Colouring and crafts for kids

Attendees are encouraged to take transit, walk, cycle or carpool to the event, as parking is limited around City Hall during daytime business hours.
