The City of Coquitlam works continuously to maintain, upgrade and expand the roads and infrastructure. There may also be projects underway in Coquitlam that are the responsibility of another entity.

Traffic Hot Spots

Please use alternate routes to avoid delays during construction and note that "Anticipated Start Dates" are ​subject to ​change. Information will be updated on an ongoing basis as soon as it is available. You can follow the City on our social media channels where we update regularly with info on our Traffic Hot Spots.

Remember to please watch for work crews and equipment and obey all traffic control personnel and signs, including construction speed limits.

Traffic Bulletin: Dewdney Trunk Road - Construction Update
What: Road Repaving 
Where: Dewdney Trunk Road between Mariner Way and Lougheed Hwy
When: Tuesday, August 4 ongoing for approximately two weeks (weather dependent). Construction will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Traffic Impacts: Turn restrictions, single lane alternating traffic and detours will be in place. Please plan extra time or use an alternate route.
Traffic Bulletin: Construction Work – Lougheed Hwy
What: Multi-Use Pathway Construction
Where: Lougheed Highway from Chilko Drive to Dewdney Trunk Road
When: Starting August 4 and will be ongoing for approximately two months, weather dependent.
Traffic Impacts: Traffic will be limited to one lane southbound between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

BC Hydro Underground Power Line Project - Como Lake

BC Hydro will be installing new underground power lines along Como Lake Avenue. Construction will start at Mariner Way and proceed West along Como Lake Avenue to Montrose Ave. Construction is set to fully begin the week of July 27 with an estimated completion date of mid-December. BC Hydro crews will typically be on site from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Should you have any questions about this project, please contact BC Hydro at 1-866-647-3334 or projects@bchydro.com.
Traffic Bulletin: Pavement Rehabilitation - Decaire Street/Schoolhouse Street
What: Road Repaving
Where: Decaire Street/Schoolhouse Street from Rochester Avenue to Brunette Avenue
When: Starting June 23 and ongoing for approximately six weeks (weather dependent). Construction will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Traffic Impacts: Traffic delays with single lane alternating traffic will be in place during construction. Please plan extra time when using this route.
Traffic Bulletin: Pavement Rehabilitation - Ponderosa Street and Crabbe Avenue
What: Road Repaving
Where: Ponderosa Street from Anson Avenue to Lougheed Hwy, and Crabbe Avenue from Westwood Street to Ponderosa Street.
When: Starting the week of June 22 and ongoing for approximately three weeks. Construction will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. 
Traffic Impacts: Single lane alternating traffic will be in place during construction. Businesses are open and accessible throughout construction but please plan extra time.
Traffic Bulletin: Mariner Way  
What: Underground utility work
Where: Mariner Way from Hawser Avenue to Dolphin Street
When: Starting early June and ongoing for approximately one month. Construction will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. 
Traffic Impacts: Single lane traffic will be in place during construction. Please plan extra time when using this route.

FortisBC Eagle Mountain to Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project

FortisBC will be introducing proposed changes to the Eagle Mountain – Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project in 2020. Prior to commencing any construction work on this project, FortisBC has committed to ongoing community engagement and opportunities for the public to participate in the process.
