Stargazing at Poirier Branch

Join astronomer Bill Burnyeat for a chance to view the heavens through a telescope, and learn about the night sky. For children, teens and adults. Families welcome.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, we will move indoors to the Nancy Bennett Room, where Bill will provide a talk and slide-show.

An Evening with Tima Kurdi

Local author Tima Kurdi talks about her book, The Boy on the Beach: My Family’s Escape from Syria and Our Hope for a New Home.

Tima is the aunt of Alan Kurdi, whose body washed up on a Turkish beach in September 2015. The heartwrenching photo of her drowned nephew drew the world’s attention to the horrors of the Syrian refugee crisis. Come and hear her powerful story.

Tima will sign copies of her book following the talk. This is a free program, please register online.

Summit Community Centre Games Night

Summit Community Centre's Family & Friends Game Nights take place on Thursday​s before Pro D Days from 6 – 9 p.m. Anyone can drop-in and sign-out board games for $1 /person. Over 50 board games to choose from with all the favourites like ​​Monopoly, Risk, Chess, Chutes & Ladders, Candy Land, etc. There will also be tea and hot chocolate.
