Park Blitz

There are a number of older parks in Southwest Coquitlam that require refreshing and/or updating to continue supporting families in their surrounding neighbourhoods.

Beginning in 2017, the Park Blitz will take three years to complete and will focus on 12 neighbourhood parks in the Burquitlam, Lougheed and Central Coquitlam neighbourhoods.

Phase 1 of the blitz included Good Neighbour Park, Crestwood Park, Dawes Hill Park and Shiloh Park. Phase 2 of the blitz included Poirier Park (Tot Lot), Cape Horn Park, Meadowbrook Park and Mariner Park.

Park Planning & Design

Our role is to:

  • Plan and design Coquitlam’s parks and open spaces and provide opportunities for community input
  • Manage Geographic Information Systems and data
  • Research and analyze park, recreation and culture participation and trends
  • Develop policy and other strategic planning processes that support the Department

To enhance the park and recreation experience for a growing community, we encourage input into the park planning process through open houses, community advisory or project committees, feedback surveys and other social media.
