We offer a number of programs designed to address barriers to recreation:

Financial Assistance for Recreation

Get Connected, Get Active

The following benefits will be available to those who are eligible, qualify and enroll. Qualified applicants must choose either Option A or Option B.

Option A

  • 50 free drop-in admissions per year, ​OR
  • 2 free registered programs per year, ​OR
  • 4 half price registered programs per year

Option B

  • ONE PASS, 1 year membership with unlimited drop-in admissions for $10.00 per person plus:
    – 2 free registered programs per year, ​OR
    – 4 half price registered programs per year

Application Process

Applications are accepted and ​processed year round and successful recipients are informed by mail or email within 3 – 4 weeks. Application processing times vary and they are based on the volume of applications received and the time of the year. Every application is important to us and they will be processed in the order we received them to ensure fairness to everyone. 

  • NEW APPLICANTS must attend an information session and pick up an application at the end of the session.  Click here for more detailed information on how to apply.

Get Connected, Get Active Information Session – Evaluation

Recreation Buddy (formerly One to One Support)

Do you or a family member need support to participate in one of our registered recreation programs? Our youth volunteers can provide assistance with crafts, games and sport activities (personal care assistance is not provided).

A Recreation Buddy can assist children with - focusing on the task at hand, redirection, ensured involvement, explaining directions, adaptations to activities and group inclusion.

Personal Care Assistance

We encourage individuals with disabilities to participate in our programs. However, those needing personal assistance with toileting, feeding or dressing must make personal arrangements for this assistance.

Accessible ProgramsPeople of all abilities are welcome in any of our recreation programs; however, we do offer a number of accessible and adaptive programs specifically for participants with physical impairments and/or developmental disabilities.

The Grade 5 Get Active! Pass provides free admissions throughout the school year to all drop-in activities. The Grade 6 Stay Active! Pass provides 12 free admissions. Learn more

Low Cost Programs

Looking for a more affordable way to become more physically active? We've got lots of ways to keep active at the pool.​

There are also a variety of toonie skates available, held at different times throughout the year.

Spring/Summer Program Guide

Coquitlam's Spring/Summer 2018 Program Guide will be available online on Wednesday, March 7. You can pick up a printed copy of the guide from our recreation facilities starting Monday, March 12. 

Registration for spring and summer programs (May to August) begins Wednesday, March 14 at 12 a.m. for online registration and 6 a.m. for in person or phone registration.
