Sports Fields – Current Status & Updates

Status of Outdoor Recreation Facilities (Parks, Playgrounds, Sports Courts and Fields, Skateparks)

As of March 22, Coquitlam closed all City playgrounds, sports courts (including tennis, basketball, lacrosse and volleyball), sports fields and skateparks. As an additional precaution, public washrooms were also closed. Dog parks were also closed effective March 23. These measures were put in place further to City staff observations, and public concern, that not all park users were observing the social distancing ordered by the Provincial Health Officer.

At this time, all City parks and trails remain open to the public with signage and City staff onsite to remind everyone to maintain social distance. See City Parks and Trails section of this page for additional information.

Parents are asked to reinforce the importance of social distancing with their children.

The current sport field status will be updated every Friday and if necessary, further information will be added.

Fields will be shown as either Open or Closed or User Discretion. If the field status is Open, the 'User Discretion' note allows user groups to make a decision regarding field conditions prior to the start of the game. Fields can be determined 'playable' provided none of the following conditions exist:

  • Standing water on field
  • Frost or frozen ground conditions
  • Snow on the field of play and surrounding areas

To report any maintenance concerns regarding the City of Coquitlam's sports fields, please call 604-927-6300.
