Heritage Planning

Coquitlam enjoys a rich heritage, evident in many features throughout the City. The notion of heritage extends beyond individual buildings, affecting overall streetscapes and neighbourhoods. Maintaining and caring for this heritage brings many benefits.

Heritage Inventory

A heritage inventory is a list of buildings, properties and sites with qualities or characteristics that contribute to the City's heritage.

Heritage Register

Coquitlam's Heritage Register is a list of properties, buildings and sites with qualities or characteristics that are recognized as significant and contribute to the City's heritage.

Heritage Redevelopment

A Heritage Revitalization Agreement (HRA) recognizes and provides protection to a heritage building, while allowing for redevelopment of the property.

The Riverview Hospital site has been recently added to Canada's Register of Historic Places.


The City of Coquitlam Archives acquires and preserves records that document the history of the city. Our holdings include records of the city government including Council Minutes, Bylaws, and correspondence from the City Clerk’s Office.
