Coquitlam’s Heritage Management Strategy

On September 3, 2019, Coquitlam Council approved the scope and process that will culminate in a Heritage Management Strategy (HMS) for the City. The HMS will build on the City’s history of heritage conservation and develop an overarching and comprehensive framework to guide the assessment and preservation of heritage resources (both built and natural). The Strategy will also establish priorities to focus the efforts of staff and determine the most suitable approaches and tools to achieve various objectives.

The HMS will be developed through 2019 and into 2020, with public and stakeholder consultation taking place in 2020. Following the consultation period, staff expect to develop the Strategy through the spring and summer of 2020, with the final HMS brought before City Council for adoption.
