Updates on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We know that members of our community may have concerns about the spread of the coronavirus. Municipal governments are guided by the direction of local, provincial and federal health authorities on matters related to public health.

The City of Coquitlam is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in British Columbia and locally. The BC Centre for Disease Control  is working to break the chains of transmission and is important that every one in Coquitlam follow the orders and the advice of the health authorities so that we can curb the spread of this virus.

We're all in this together; let's stay apart.

Hearts for Health Care Workers - Show Your Support in Coquitlam

Coquitlam’s City Hall windows will be adorned with hearts as part of the “Hearts for Health Care Workers” movement, to show support for health care workers who are required to work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Show Your Support at Home

Download the printable heart or one you and the kids can colour yourselves to place on your door or windows. Look for the City’s posts on social media to share the love online, too.

7 p.m. Nightly Cheer

At 7 p.m., shifts change at health care facilities. At this time, communities are showing their support by cheering from windows or open doors, and by ringing bells, beating on drums or pots and pans. Let health care workers know we support them during this time!

A note about disposable wipes: Many people use disposable wipes to disinfect and clean surfaces. Please avoid flushing "unflushable" items, such as baby wipes, personal hygiene wipes, disinfecting or cleaning wipes or paper towels down the toilet, as this wreaks havoc on our sewer system and can cause blockages and backups. Even if these products are labeled as "flushable", they should be placed in the garbage. Learn more here.
