COQUITLAM, B.C., January 14, 2024 – The City of Coquitlam is providing more than $207,000 to support local non-profit and community organizations. These groups contribute to our community in a variety ways, from hosting concerts and organizing sports programs to improving quality of life for seniors, among other important initiatives.
Fall 2024 Grant Funding and Recipients
On Monday, Coquitlam City Council awarded Spirit of Coquitlam grants to 22 different groups, who will receive a total of $207,027 in funding for their projects. The grant program is funded through the Province of BC’s Host Financial Assistance Agreement, which benefits local governments that are home to casinos or community gaming centres.
The City awards Spirit of Coquitlam grants twice a year. These grants help local organizations host events, offer community support programs, purchase equipment, and fund capital projects that benefit Coquitlam residents. Successful Spirit of Coquitlam grant projects must have outcomes that align with the City’s strategic priorities, as well as meeting eligibility criteria outlined in the grant guidelines.
Refer to the backgrounder below for more details on this season’s recipients.
The next Spirit of Coquitlam grant intake will open February 3, 2025. Details about the grant and application process are available at coquitlam.ca/SpiritGrant.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
