COQUITLAM, B.C., January 28, 2025 – The spring Spirit of Coquitlam Grant application period will be open from February 3 to March 3, allowing registered not-for-profit organizations based in and serving Coquitlam residents to apply for financial support from the City.
About the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program
The City of Coquitlam has awarded more than $9.8 million grants to 260 different community organizations through the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant program since its launch in 2002.
Grants are awarded twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. To be eligible for a Spirit of Coquitlam Grant, projects must take place in Coquitlam, primarily benefit Coquitlam residents, be sustainable beyond the grant funding, and have outcomes that align with the City’s strategic priorities. Applicants must also be in good standing with the City.
Individual grant amounts will vary based on the category and project. Funding for projects is not guaranteed—it is a competitive process and priority may be given to groups who have not received funding previously. Details about the grant and application process are available at coquitlam.ca/SpiritGrant.
Application Support Offered
The City of Coquitlam will be hosting a webinar designed to help organizations understand the grant criteria, application process and requirements on February 13 from 7 - 9 p.m.
Applicants are also encouraged to contact the Grant Coordinators at CommunityGrant@coquitlam.ca or 604-927-3007 to discuss their application before submitting it.
Timing for Grant Application and Awards
The City will review grant applications in the spring, with Council approval and announcement of the successful applicants and funding by July 2025.
The fall intake will open in September 2025.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
