COQUITLAM, B.C., April 8, 2025 – Skilled volunteers will be ready to repair everything from small appliances and bicycles to clothing and furniture—for free—at Coquitlam’s Repair Café on April 26.

Join us on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Maillardville Community Centre to give your item a second life and keep them out of the landfill. This popular community event offers residents a sustainable and engaging way to reduce waste.

Volunteer-Driven Repair Cafés

Repair Cafés are community-powered events where skilled volunteers fix broken items while offering participants a hands-on learning experience. These gatherings foster connections, promote sustainability, and help reduce waste—a win-win for Coquitlam. Find full event details at coquitlam.ca/RepairCafe.

Do you have skills in textile mending, electrical repairs, or bike maintenance? Join Coquitlam’s growing community of over 50 dedicated Repair Café volunteers. Share your talents, help divert waste from the landfill, and contribute to a more sustainable community. Fill out a volunteer form at coquitlam.ca/RepairCafe.

Reduce Waste, Support Sustainability

Coquitlam residents can support the circular economy, which promotes designing products for longevity, repair, and reuse to eliminate waste, by choosing repairable items and participating in programs like the Repair Café. This sustainable approach to consumption helps address climate change by reducing emissions tied to product manufacturing, use, and disposal. For more information on Coquitlam’s climate action efforts, visit coquitlam.ca/ClimateAction.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum), meaning “Red Fish Up the River.” The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee) and other Coast Salish Peoples.
