COQUITLAM, B.C., May 14, 2025 – Property tax notices are being mailed out to Coquitlam property owners this week. If you’ve signed up for e-bills through MyCoquitlam you should have received your bill. Payment is due July 2, 2025.
Where Your Tax Dollars Go
Property taxes are the primary way municipalities fund essential municipal operations and services that keep Coquitlam safe, livable and vibrant. These include police and fire/rescue services, road maintenance, parks and trails, recreation and cultural programs, and a wide range of community services and events. Outside of the City’s budget control, approximately 40 per cent of property taxes are collected by the City on behalf of other agencies to support regional services, including the Province of B.C., TransLink, Metro Vancouver and B.C. Assessment.
As the region continues to grow, so does the need for these essential services. Coquitlam’s 2025 budget strikes a careful balance between limiting new spending and maintaining the critical municipal services our residents rely on. Through sound financial planning and a commitment to save for the future, the City aims to keep tax increases predictable and stable over time. This year, the average homeowner can expect to see an increase of $175 in property taxes—less than $15 a month—as part of a long-term strategy to maintain stability while building a resilient, thriving community for today, and for future generations.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
