COQUITLAM, B.C., April 22, 2026 – As Coquitlam gets ready for the Summer of Soccer, local businesses have an unique opportunity to join the fun and help celebrate the World Cup — the world’s biggest sporting event.
The City of Coquitlam is inviting local restaurants, cafés, and other food and beverage vendors to offer special promotional offerings for residents hosting soccer-themed Enhanced Block Parties. Participating businesses can connect with new customers and market their menus across up to 40 celebrating neighbourhoods this summer.
Sign Up to Celebrate the World Cup
Coquitlam businesses can apply by taking the following steps:
- Develop a special promotion for Enhanced Block Party hosts, available from June 11 to July 19.
- Submit the application to the City by May 15. Successful applicants will be notified, and approved vendor information will be shared to all party hosts.
- Provide the special promotion to customers who are approved Enhanced Block Party hosts.
The City will support participating businesses through targeted communications and outreach. Approved vendors will be advertised directly to party hosts and recognized on Tourism Coquitlam’s social media channels.
About Neighbourhood Block Parties in 2026
Coquitlam’s Block Party Program supports community connection by encouraging neighbours to gather, share and celebrate where they live. Residents can apply for a grant to help cover food and beverage, as well as other costs like supplies, equipment rentals or entertainment — ideally purchased from local businesses.
As the Summer of Soccer celebration approaches, the City is bringing the tournament spirit close to home by offering 40 soccer-themed Enhanced Block Parties packages. Residents may apply for a $500 grant to organize a World Cup Soccer Celebration, or a large screen with streaming infrastructure for a neighbourhood World Cup Soccer Watch Party. All Enhanced Block Parties will receive soccer-themed play kits, encouraging informal play and family-friendly activities. Learn more at coquitlam.ca/Soccer.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
