COQUITLAM, BC, September 25, 2026 – Local democracy happens close to home, and your municipal vote can help shape your community for the next four years. Voting means having your say on the local decisions that impact daily life — from roads, parks and recreation, to neighbourhood planning and essential services.
There are several ways to vote this year, so find an option that works for you and make a plan to cast your ballot.
When and Where to Vote
General voting day is Saturday, October 17. Voters can cast their ballot at any one of the 23 voting locations spread throughout the community, open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Coquitlam does not issue “Where to Vote” cards.
A map of voting locations is available at coquitlam.ca/elections by clicking on “Voting Locations”. Advance voting opportunities will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
- Monday, October 5 at Town Centre Park Community Centre (1207 Pinetree Way)
- Wednesday, October 7 at Centennial Pavilion (620 Poirier Street)
- Thursday, October 8 at Town Centre Park Community Centre
- Saturday October 10 at Town Centre Park Community Centre , Centennial Pavilion, Victoria Community Hall (3435 Victoria Drive)
- Tuesday, October 13 at Centennial Pavilion
- Thursday, October 15 at Centennial Pavilion
Vote By Mail
New this year, eligible voters can apply to cast their ballot by mail. The application deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot to be mailed out is Monday, October 5. After that date, mail-in ballots must be picked up from Elections Headquarters at Coquitlam City Hall (3000 Guildford Way). Visit coquitlam.ca/elections and click “Mail Ballot Voting” to apply.
What to Bring to the Voting Place
Bring at least two documents that in combination, show proof of identity and place of residence. At least one must contain your signature. Acceptable examples include a BC Care Card, BC Driver’s Licence, Birth Certificate, or a Property Tax Notice issued by the City of Coquitlam. Other examples and other voter eligibility requirements are available at coquitlam.ca/elections under the “Voter Information” section.
Positions and Candidate Information
In the 2026 Coquitlam General Local Election, voters will elect:
- One (1) Mayor
- Eight (8) Councillors
- Four (4) School Board Trustees School District 43 (Coquitlam – Area 1)

Two Separate Elections, Two Separate Votes
In addition to the municipal election, a provincial election has been declared for Saturday, October 24. Eligible voters will elect a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for their riding.
Over the coming weeks, you will see campaigns for both levels of government at the same time, and Provincial advanced voting will overlap with Coquitlam’s general voting day on October 17. For the local municipal election, eligible voters can vote at any voting location. For the provincial election, Elections BC will deliver “Where to Vote” cards to registered voters.
