COQUITLAM, BC, October 15, 2026 – Join more than 6,700 voters who have already cast their ballot in Coquitlam’s municipal election and vote! Saturday, October 17 is the last chance for eligible voters to decide who will represent them at City Hall and on the School District 43 School Board.
Your Community, Your Voice, Your Vote
Cities make decisions that affect everyday lives: parks and recreation, public safety, community planning and housing, business zoning, property taxes, festivals and events, and more. Plus, municipalities provide important services such as water, sewer, roads, fire protection and policing.
Being a voter is important. In our 2022 election, just over one-quarter of eligible voters made their way to the polls. Let’s get out and vote, Coquitlam!
When and Where to Vote
General voting day is Saturday, October 17. Voters can cast their ballot at any of the 23 voting locations spread throughout the community. All voting locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., are wheelchair accessible and offer curbside voting. Coquitlam does not issue “Where to Vote” cards, voters just need to bring two pieces of ID to any voting location.
A map of voting locations is available at coquitlam.ca/elections by clicking on “Voting Locations”

Two Separate Elections, Two Separate Votes
In addition to the municipal election, a provincial election has been declared for Saturday, October 24. Eligible voters will elect a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for their riding.
Provincial advanced voting will overlap with Coquitlam’s general voting day on October 17, sometimes at the same location. For the local municipal election, eligible voters can vote at any municipal voting location. For the provincial election, Elections BC will deliver “Where to Vote” cards to registered voters.
These are two separate elections with different candidates, voting locations, and days to vote. Visit the Elections BC website for information on the provincial election.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
