This June, celebrate Pride Month in Coquitlam and show your support for the LGBTQ2S+ community.

COQUITLAM, B.C., May 28, 2025 – This June, celebrate Pride Month in Coquitlam and show your support for the LGBTQ2S+ community. Explore a wide range of activities for all age groups, designed to foster meaningful connections and strengthen our inclusive community spirit.

The Pride flag will be flying at City Hall starting on June 1, and Pride banners will be displayed at locations across the City. These flags, alongside rainbow-coloured lighting on Pinetree Way and the rainbow crosswalk on Burlington Avenue, showcase the City’s support for Pride in Coquitlam.

Events and Activities to Celebrate Inclusion

Pride Month in Coquitlam is a key part of our ongoing efforts to create a welcoming atmosphere across all City programs and facilities, and within the broader community.

Join us for a variety of events, including barbecues, a youth art exhibition, and a pride-themed movie series. These activities offer great opportunities for learning, connection and community-building. Be sure to attend the Poirier Youth Celebrate Pride! 3rd Annual BBQ on June 13 (course ID 180543), the Pinetree Youth Art Exhibit on June 20 (course ID 182408), and the Maillardville Families Celebrate Pride event on June 21 (course ID 182015).

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
