Coquitlam block parties are back, bringing neighbours together with $150 cash grants to help kick-start the fun.
COQUITLAM, B.C., June 9, 2025 – Kick-start the fun in your neighbourhood—Coquitlam’s block party program is back, with $150 cash grants to help get the party started.
The program supports community connection by encouraging neighbours to gather, share and celebrate where they live.
Be the Host with the Most
Be the talk of your corner of Coquitlam and apply for funding at coquitlam.ca/BlockParties. The $150 grant can help cover costs like food, supplies, equipment rentals or entertainment—ideally purchased from local businesses. For ideas, visit visitcoquitlam.ca.
In addition to the grant and free liability insurance, confirmed hosts can:
- Borrow a Block Party Play Kit with games and activities
- Download a Block Party Handbook for tips and inspiration
- Request road closures for cul-de-sacs, lanes and neighbourhood streets
It’s a simple way to build connections and strengthen your community.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
