Salmon Day
Saturday, October 5, 2024
Join Watershed Watch, Resilient Waters, Kwikwetlem First Nation and PhD student Zachary Sherker of UBC’s Pacific Salmon Ecology and Conservation Laboratory for a fun, family-friendly Salmon Day at Colony Farm* Regional Park.
Learn how we are working to reconnect waterways to improve salmon's ability to access their habitats.
Salmon Day is an educational event that will feature:
- Interactive displays by community partners
- A fish ID session
- A make-your-own-salmon detector station
- An opportunity to adopt your own PIT-tagged salmon so you can get updates about their journey.
Activities will run from 11 AM - 3 PM.
At 12 PM, community leaders will present on some awesome work being done to take care of salmon.
Event exhibitors include:
Kwikwetlem First Nation
Watershed Watch Salmon Society
Pacific Salmon Foundation
MetroVancouver Regional Parks Association
Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable
Colony Farm Parks Association
How to get there:
We will be hosting this event next to the Community Gardens at Colony Farm* Regional Park. Park at the Colony Farm* main parking lot at the end of Colony Farm* Road.
The park has great walking and biking paths, so bring your bike and explore the many trails.
