COQUITLAM, B.C., June 24, 2026 – Construction starts this summer on new tennis courts for Town Centre Park, after Council approved the final design plans on Monday.

Once construction is complete and the new courts are open, the existing tennis courts will be converted into open lawn space for community use, including events, festivals, picnics and informal recreation.

New Courts to Serve Up Better Play

The expanded tennis facility will feature 10 dedicated full-size tennis courts and one half court, all built with high quality playing surfaces and LED sports lighting for improved visibility and extended play.

Spectator seating with designated areas for mobility devices and strollers will line the western edge of the courts, while a new social patio to the south will offer flexible gathering space with moveable seating and tables.

Next to the social patio, a new energy-efficient support building will replace the existing clubhouse. This new facility will provide modern meeting space for both players and the wider community, including a kitchenette and accessible washroom. Large windows and full-height glazing will bring in natural light and offer year-round views of the surrounding mountains and the courts.

Updates to Support Park Services

In line with the Town Centre Park Master Plan, the relocated and expanded tennis facility will displace the existing East Works Yard. To support seamless and efficient park operations, staff will relocate administrative functions into the existing Percy Perry Stadium office. A new storage area for park maintenance equipment and essentials will also be added at the south end of the stadium, just north of the new tennis courts.

Detours and Park Impacts

During construction, some park trails around the new courts will be closed for the safety of park users. Please follow all detour signs.
