Recycling

Thank you for helping us work towards our waste management long-term goal to maximize reuse, recycling and material recovery as outlined in the City's Environmental Sustainability Plan

Curbside Recycling

Curbside recycling is not provided by the City of Coquitlam – it is a service provided at no cost to residents by Recycle BC, a non-profit organization funded by the businesses that supply packaging and paper to residents in British Columbia (not by municipal taxes or utility fees). Recycle BC contracts GFL Environmental to collect curbside recycling from single-family homes and select multi-family homes in Coquitlam.

For more information about curbside recycling, visit the Recycle BC website or contact Recycle BC by email or call 778-588-9504. If your curbside recycling was not collected, or if you require new or additional recycling boxes and/or bags, please contact GFL Environmental directly by email or call 604-529-4011.

Recycling Depots

If you have extra curbside recycling or recyclable materials that aren’t accepted for curbside collection, you can drop them off at one of the locations below or use the Waste Wizard search tool to find your nearest depot. You can also consider donating items in good condition to a charitable organization.

United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre

Metro Vancouver’s United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre is a full-service recycling and waste centre for commercial, municipal and small-vehicle customers. Visit the  United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre website for the full list of accepted materials.

Town Centre Recycling Depot

The Town Centre Recycling Depot is located within Town Centre Park on Trevor Wingrove Way, west of Pipeline Road and is for household recycling only, not for recycling from businesses. Visit the Town Centre Recycling Depot Facility page for a list of materials accepted and hours.

Local Recycling Options

Please review this document that lists a summary of recycling location options and their accepted materials. The local depots highlighted below accept a number of items for drop-off and for free - visit their website for a current list of items.

The summary is for general information only, and is reviewed and updated quarterly - please contact each facility for specific information including material requirements and quantity limits.

You can also visit the Recycling Council of B.C. website and use their Recyclepedia search.

Donating Locally

If you have items in good condition to donate, use the Coquitlam Guide to Donating Locally (PDF), which we update twice a year, that lists charitable organizations that would be happy to hear from you.

Large Item Pick-Up

Do you have furniture or other large household items you no longer want and that can’t be donated? Residents who receive the City’s curbside collection service can have up to four large household items collected each year (July 1 to June 30).

Visit our large item pick-up page to complete an online registration form and for more information.
