The renovation will feature 841 square metres (9,055 square feet) of additional Fitness Centre space, multi-purpose area, meeting room and flexible space, as well as a renovated lobby and administration area. In addition to better addressing the current facility demands, the expanded space will provide for community growth and anticipated recreation needs over the next decade.
The renovation project is expected to deliver the following:
Additional equipment for the Fitness Centre
Additional weekly spin classes
Increased number of group fitness classes
Increased space for child minding services
More aquatic leadership programs scheduled per year
More space for stretching and free weights
Timing and Interim Measures
Construction is anticipated to begin in February 2021 and complete in Fall 2021. The aquatic areas will remain open during construction except during the regular annual maintenance shutdown in September. Some of CCAC’s fitness equipment will be temporarily relocated to the nearby Innovation Centre (1207 Pinetree Way) to provide some continuity of service.
