COQUITLAM, BC, Nov. 2, 2022 – Are you passionate about public library services, and interested in sharing your expertise to help shape library services in your community? Applications are currently being accepted for vacancies on the Coquitlam Library Board.
Guided by the Coquitlam Public Library mission to nurture joy in discovery by providing inviting, innovative spaces and services that promote learning and knowledge, the Library Board engages Coquitlam’s diverse communities and provides governance and oversight of public library services in Coquitlam.
If your values align with those of the library – openness, inclusion, respect, curiosity and love of learning – consider applying to join the Board before the Nov. 16 deadline. Selected applicants will serve on the Library Board for a two-year term from January 2023 to December 2024, or less, dependent on the vacancy being filled.
The Board typically meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month, except in March, August and December. This is a volunteer appointment and there is no remuneration for Board members.

How to Apply and Criteria
Individuals interested in this opportunity must submit an application form, résumé and cover letter that demonstrate passion for the community as well as any knowledge relevant to the Library Board’s mandate.
- Applicants may not be employees of the City of Coquitlam or the Coquitlam Public Library.
- Applicants must be an eligible resident or a non-resident property elector (individuals who own property in Coquitlam, but live elsewhere in B.C.).
- Applicants should demonstrate knowledge, experience or potential to effectively contribute to key areas of the Board including government and policy, strategic planning, and finance. As with all boards overseeing a complex organization, previous business or legal experience is desirable.
- Applicants of any age, race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, political belief, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, neighbourhood, and income level are encouraged to apply in order to appoint representatives of the broader community, and to address issues of those communities.
- Applicants should be willing and able to serve for the full term of the appointment (January 2023 – December 2024). The term of appointment may be two years, or less, dependent on the vacancy being filled.
