COQUITLAM, B.C., Dec. 23, 2022 – While many of Coquitlam’s recreation and civic facilities have special operating hours or closures over the holiday season, City staff will continue to work throughout the next week to support festive events, recreation activities and respond to extreme weather conditions.

City Service Updates

The current weather conditions are ever-changing, and forecasted snow, ice pellets and rain are expected to affect road conditions and could potentially lead to localized flooding. Coquitlam is monitoring this situation, and crews are working hard to prepare and respond to the impacts of the weather conditions. Updates on the City’s winter storm response, including curbside collection, road safety, and recreation and community centre updates are being posted at www.coquitlam.ca/serviceupdate

Stay and Play in Coquitlam

For those staying close to home this holiday season, consider some of Coquitlam’s all-ages drop-in activities. Visit www.coquitlam.ca/stayandplay for pool and arena schedules, as well as options for sports and active play.

The City is also offering a number of free, outdoor pop-up events at Town Centre Park as part of Lights at Lafarge. Find out more at www.coquitlam.ca/parkspark.

Coquitlam boasts more than 90 km of trails and 80 parks, many of which include unique playground spaces. If nicer weather prevails, this time of year could be a great time to explore some hidden gems with family and friends. Go to www.coquitlam.ca/parkfinder for a complete listing that allows you to filter your search by neighbourhood or amenity. Please be aware of winter weather and heavy rains – stay away from fast moving rivers and trails, especially at higher elevations, where there’s a risk of falling trees or branches.

Facility Holiday Hours

If your plans include a visit to a City recreation centre or other civic facility, be sure to check www.coquitlam.ca/holidayhours for updates, as the hours listed below may change due to weather.
