Get outdoors, show community spirit and give back by volunteering with Coquitlam’s Park Spark Light Brigade this fall.
COQUITLAM, B.C., October 3, 2023 – Get outdoors, show community spirit and give back by volunteering with Coquitlam’s Park Spark Light Brigade this fall.
Coquitlam is on the lookout for community members, schools, organizations and businesses to help transform our parks into a winter wonderland as we prepare for the much-loved annual winter light displays. Add some extra holiday warmth to the displays at Lights at Lafarge and Mackin Park, and help set the stage for the seasonal kick off event on Friday, November. 24. The magic of the season will shine until February 2024.
Get Involved in the Light Brigade
Volunteers are invited to join the Park Spark Light Brigade and add their sparkle to the light display in a number of different ways:
- Fabricate lit elements
- Install special displays
- Take part in light-making workshops
- Host a night throughout the season
Workshops will take place throughout October and November. Light installations will take place until November 24.
If you are interested in getting involved, email ParkSpark@coquitlam.ca or visit coquitlam.ca/ParkSpark.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
