COQUITLAM, B.C., June 28, 2024 – The City of Coquitlam has partnered with the YMCA to provide more hours for Coquitlam resident access at the Coquitlam Bettie Allard YMCA (555 Emerson Street).
Coquitlam residents can access the pool and fitness facilities at the Coquitlam Bettie Allard YMCA during specified times, without a YMCA membership, and for the same price as a single admission to the City’s recreation facilities.
Starting July 1 until August 3, 2024, the resident access hours for the pool have been extended to include an additional 20 hours weekly, for a total of more than 50 hours of access per week. Residents can swim in the mornings, afternoons and evenings, with eight hours of access daily from Monday to Friday and five and a half hours daily on the weekends. The Coquitlam Bettie Allard YMCA aquatic facilities will be closed for maintenance from August 4 to September 8, 2024.

About the Coquitlam Bettie Allard YMCA
The Coquitlam Bettie Allard YMCA is a 55,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility that opened in January 2023. It offers aquatic facilities, a fitness centre, and a variety of community spaces. The $101 million facility was made possible through a partnership between the City of Coquitlam, the YMCA of Greater Vancouver, and Concert Properties. In addition to the community centre, the partnership resulted in a range of community benefits, including a Community Police Station, a dedicated park-and-ride facility, new parkland, transportation improvements, and housing, including dedicated rental housing.
With the Coquitlam Resident Access Rate, Coquitlam residents have access to fitness and aquatics programs at the City’s drop-in rates during designated access times without a membership.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-kwuh-tlum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
