Non-profit community organizations have until March 31 to apply for funding through the City’s Spirit Grant program.
COQUITLAM, B.C., Feb. 28, 2020 – Non-profit community organizations have until March 31 to apply for funding through the City’s Spirit Grant program.
The City awards Spirit of Coquitlam Grants twice a year to help local organizations host events, purchase equipment and complete initiatives or capital projects that benefit Coquitlam residents. The applications from this intake will be for projects or events from July 2020 through to the fall of 2021.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, projects must take place in Coquitlam, primarily benefit Coquitlam residents, be sustainable beyond the grant funding and have outcomes that align with the City’s strategic goals. Applicants must also be in good financial standing with the City.
In addition, organizations will be required to show they have applied for a BC Community Gaming Grant (if eligible) and priority will be given to applicants contributing at least 10 per cent of the project value in cash.

After the spring deadline on March 31, a multi-departmental staff team will review the grant requests and forward recommendations to Council for discussion and approval.
About the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program
The Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program was created in 2002 to assist local organizations in purchasing equipment, hosting events, and realizing capital projects to advance community goals. Since 2002, through this program, the City of Coquitlam has awarded over $9 million to over 200 different community organizations.
