Emergency Support Services
Emergency Support Services (ESS) provides temporary assistance for those forced to leave their homes due to fire, flood, earthquakes or other emergencies. This assistance may include food, lodging, clothing, family reunification and emotional support.
In Coquitlam, local ESS planning and response is organized by the City's Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities team, with support from numerous community partners.
Reception Centres
A Reception Centre is a pre-identified facility where ESS services can be provided to the community. During an ESS activation, the location of these centres is publicized via the media along with additional information, as details become available.
If you evacuate your home, it is recommended that you register at a Reception Centre, if one has been activated by the City. This is important even if you plan to stay with friends or relatives and not at one of the locations set up to house evacuees. Registration ensures emergency officials know that you have left the area and are accounted for.
