COVID-19 Update: Jan. 19, 2022

As of Jan. 20, 2022 , weight rooms at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex and City Centre Aquatic Complex will reopen to the public with pre-registered time blocks, distancing and capacity limits in place. See below for details. 

The City of Coquitlam operates within the requirements set out by the Provincial Health Officer and all current public health orders are followed including proof of vaccination requirements and mask mandates. Weight Room Access

As of Jan. 20, weight room access at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex and City Centre Aquatic Complex have reopened to the public with pre-registered time blocks, distancing and capacity limits.

Masks are required for all staff and patrons when not actively exercising. Registration for weight room time blocks will be open 48 hours in advance. At this time, both Glen Pine and Pinetree weight rooms remain closed due to spacing requirements.  

Indoor & Outdoor Group Fitness

In-person group fitness is anticipated to return starting Monday, Jan. 24. Both indoor and outdoor offerings will be available. Outdoor spin classes will require pre-registration, which opens 48 hours prior to the start of each class. All indoor classes will be drop-in, first come, first served.

Masks are highly recommended for indoor fitness, however participants may remove masks while actively exercising. Physical distancing measures will be in place in addition to reduced maximum capacities.

    The World Health Organization recommends that adults get 150 minutes—that’s 30 minutes at least five times per week—of moderate-intensity physical activity throughout the week. 

    Live-Streamed Virtual Fitness Classes

    Our fitness instructors are offering low-cost online fitness classes for all activity levels using the Zoom platform. Don’t have all the necessary equipment? Not to worry – the instructor will show you how to use ordinary household items as fitness equipment. Check out the weekly schedule below to find a class that will help keep you moving. Registration is required.


    • Low Impact – Mondays, 10 – 11 a.m. 
    • Latin Dance Workout – Mondays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 


    • Pilates  – Tuesdays, 10 – 11 a.m.
    • HIIT – Tuesdays, 6 – 7 p.m. 


    • Hatha Yoga – Wednesdays, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  
    • Essentrics – Wednesdays, 10:45 – 11:45 a.m.  
    • Barre  – Wednesdays 6 – 7 p.m.


    • Low Impact Thursdays, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
    • Fit 360 – Thursdays, 6 – 7 p.m.


    • Latin Dance Workout – Fridays, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Personal Training

Reach your fitness goals faster with the help of a personal trainer. Whether you are new to the gym or an experienced fitness lover, a personal trainer can teach you new exercises, keep you motivated and help you work out effectively and  efficiently. Waiver Forms for Specialty Registered Programs

If you’re attending any of our prenatal classes, a PARmed-X for Pregnancy Form (PDF) will need to be completed prior to working out.

For other specialty classes, you will be notified at registration if you need to fill out a Par-Q Plus Form (PDF) - "The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire for Everyone." Depending on your answers, you may also be required to visit your doctor before attending our fitness classes.

Youth Weight Room Orientations

Youth ages 13 – 15 can use weight room facilities upon completion of a youth weight room orientation.
