Bylaw Enforcement

Coquitlam’s Bylaw Enforcement Officers have been working alongside regulatory partners to ensure compliance with the Provincial Health Orders and recommendations. Bylaw Enforcement & Business Licensing staff have created an in-house COVID Compliance Team to provide education and information to businesses and the community as a whole. This team works with the Fraser Health Authority, WorkSafeBC and the RCMP, as required. In an effort to ensure Coquitlam residents have safe access to dining, fitness and other business services, our Officers perform regular proactive outreach to businesses in the community.

Parks and community spaces are more important than ever, and Bylaw Officers visit them daily to ensure that all people are able to enjoy common spaces in a safe and conscientious manner. Our Officers attend parks to promote compliance with bylaws and to remind residents and visitors of provincial recommendations and orders, including gathering and the need for physical distancing. For Bylaw Enforcement concerns, call 604-927-7387 or email.

Coquitlam Bylaw Enforcement & Animal Services is a part of the Legal & Bylaw Enforcement Division. The primary goals of bylaw enforcement are to ensure public safety and maintain community harmony.

We investigate various allegations of bylaw contraventions and endeavor to resolve complaints through education and voluntary compliance when appropriate. Our actions are guided by the city’s Bylaw Enforcement Policy (PDF) and our Mission Statement:

Bylaw Enforcement & Animal Services provides dedicated and knowledgeable service in the community by promoting animal care, public safety and compliance with community standards through education and enforcement.
