Town Centre Park Upgrades
Work and upgrades in Town Centre Park are guided by the Town Centre Park Master Plan. This document provides a practical community-based vision and guiding principles, illustrative conceptual plans for future improvements and a phased construction strategy to implement developments to the park over the next 15 to 20 years.
Current Projects
Construction related to the Metro Vancouver Coquitlam Water Main – Robson to Guildford Section project runs along Pipeline Road to the east of the park. The City also has planned upgrades to Pipeline Road.
The south end of the Lafarge Lake Loop Trail will be closed for a few days in early June 2026 for re-paving. Trail detours will be in place during work hours, and will reopen in the evening.
In February 2026, the City began work on an expanded and relocated tennis facility in Town Centre Park. When complete, the project will add more courts and a new support building, while also allowing for additional park improvements including more open green space for casual use and community events, as well as streamlining park maintenance.
The new dedicated tennis facility will include:
- 10 full-size courts and 1 half court (a net gain of two courts)
- LED sports lighting
- Spectator seating
- A drinking fountain and bottle refill station
- Four accessible parking stalls
- A new energy-efficient support building
Remaining open for play until the new courts are built, the existing tennis courts will be restored to open lawn space for community events and festivals, and casual use such as playing games, picnicking or relaxing.
Location
In line with the Town Centre Park Master Plan, the new courts will be built just north of Trevor Wingrove Way, where the Recycling Depot and East Works Yard are currently located. The Town Centre Recycling Depot's last day of operation was February 1,2026 to make space for the new tennis facility. Find recycling options available in Coquitlam.
Timeline
Construction of the new courts will begin in February 2026 and are planned to open for play in summer 2027. For the safety of park users, some trails will be closed while work is underway. Please follow all detour signs. Thanks for your patience.

Completed Projects
Festival Lawn Expansion
Festival Lawn of approximately 8,000 square metres was added in 2019 east of the Town Centre Park Community Plaza area, providing increased open space for festivals and events, as well as year-round casual use and programs. A variety of trees were also planted for aesthetics and shade.
Festival Hub
A new Festival Hub opened in December 2020 between the Town Centre Park Community Plaza and Festival Lawn areas. The hub includes:
- Further enhancements to the lawn, gardens, pathways and lighting
- New washroom and servery building
- A 650-square-metre (7,000-square-foot) plaza for additional social and gathering space
Spanning about a quarter of the park, the lake loop improvements help to increase capacity, enhance safety and accessibility, and enhance overall user experience in the park. Using a phased approach, the 1.2-kilometer lake loop and surrounding area was divided into three distinct improvement zones: Garden Walk on the east side, Urban Walk on the west side and Forest Walk on the south side.
- Urban Walk improvements—completed in 2021—included repaving and lighting upgrades to improve pathway accessibility, capacity and visibility; seating for resting and socializing; and a two-stall, fully-accessible universal washroom near Evergreen Cultural Centre opened in 2021.
- Garden Walk improvements—completed in 2022—included new botanical garden beds with a wide variety of plants and trees to increase habitat for birds and pollinators, and construction of new pathways inviting visitors to enjoy the variety of sights, sounds, colours and textures of the garden display.
- Forest Walk improvements—upcoming in the future—will include a widened asphalt trail with sections of boardwalk, extensive tree planting, lighting and new meandering trails.
Percy Perry Track and Field Renewal
Percy Perry Stadium reopened in 2023 following a full replacement of the rubber track and synthetic turf field.
The City completed the track renewal and artificial turf replacement at the same time in order to maximize cost efficiencies and limit disruption to these key recreational amenities. Completion of the replacement work at both facilities ensures that the amenities remain of a high standard for our public to use, and the stadium upgrades will allow Percy Perry Stadium to continue to be Coquitlam’s top outdoor sports-hosting venue for years to come.
Field 6 (North Field) Artificial Turf Replacement
The artificial turf playing surface on Field 6 (North Field) had reached the end of its useful life and was replaced over the summer of 2024 in order to continue to meet the needs of our growing community.
