To meet the long-term service needs of Coquitlam, the Austin Works Yard is undergoing a number of improvements.
The existing Burquitlam park site is now closed. The new, redesigned Burquitlam Park will be part of the master-designed community at the heart of Burquitlam that includes the Coquitlam Bettie Allard YMCA, a Community Police Station, park-and-ride facilities, and residential rental and strata housing.
The Coquitlam Bettie Allard YMCA, Community Police Station and Park-and-Ride opened in late 2022. The southern sections of the redesigned Burquitlam Park will be opened for public use upon completion of the residential tower phases.
The City is building outdoor sport and recreation amenities for future school and community use on the same site as the future middle/high school, in partnership with School District 43.

The Coquitlam Crunch Trail is a popular outdoor recreational destination in Coquitlam. A long-time destination for fitness enthusiasts, the Crunch trail sees about 50,000 users each month during peak summer season. Coquitlam is planning to extend the popular to the south, eventually connecting to Mundy Park.

Cottonwood Park is undergoing a major multi-year expansion that started in 2018.
The City of Coquitlam, in collaboration with Beedie Fraser Mills Limited Partnership (Beedie Living), is moving forward with planning and development of the public amenities in the future Fraser Mills neighbourhood. This includes parks, a community centre (which includes a pool), and public art.

Following the first two phases of the Glen Park Master Plan, which included a fenced off-leash dog area, a picnic area, a plaza and playground along Pipeline Road and the creation of a passive lawn area, known as the Great Lawn, the City is working towards phase three.

As part of the Cemetery Services Plan, future upgrades are planned for Robinson Memorial Park Cemetery to be divided into various phases. Phase 1 was completed in 2021, Phase 2 will begin in 2025 and Phase 3 will begin in 2030.
