COQUITLAM, B.C., Aug. 3, 2022 – Coquitlam’s Kaleidoscope Arts Festival—the Tri-Cities ultimate celebration of arts and culture—returns for in-person performances and immersive arts activities at three locations Aug. 19 to 21.

Coquitlam’s seventh annual arts festival offers residents and visitors a captivating arts and culture experience, with free admission, award-winning musicians, dance performances, Indigenous and cultural education, workshops, kids activities and more.

Friday Night—Town Centre Park Hosts Live Music and Food Trucks

Thanks to the support of this year’s Kaleidoscope music partner, TD Bank Group, Coquitlam is excited to bring two-time JUNO award winning songwriter and musician Dan Mangan to the TD Community Plaza stage. Kicking off the evening at 6 p.m. is Carmanah, a West Coast band that has crafted a niche of its own somewhere between roots, rock and soul. Visitors to Town Centre Park can enjoy easy access by SkyTrain or free parking, some great onsite food trucks and Rocky Point Ice Cream concession. Those 19+ also have the option of bring their own adult beverages and enjoying alcohol responsibly while in Coquitlam’s parks.

Immerse Yourself in the Arts

On Saturday and Sunday, Coquitlam’s smaller park settings will offer the perfect venue for local families to take in the performances and activities. Thanks to the support of Kaleidoscope’s Art Activities Partner, Beedie, and Visual Arts Partner, Woodbridge Homes, watch in awe and wonder as Aeriosa Dance Society performs a breathtaking aerial routine from a grove of Douglas fir trees at Blue Mountain Park. Look forward to performances from Ugandan-Canadian singer-songwriter, Yvonne Kushe, and Ballet B.C. dancer, Livona Ellis, on Saturday, Aug. 20; and a musical performance from blues-country-rock artist, Ana Bon-Bon on Sunday, Aug. 21.

As Coquitlam moves forward in its Reconciliation journey, we invite our community to learn more. Join Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) ethnobotanist and artist T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss; X̱aayda (Haida), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) First Nations storyteller Kung Jaadee; and Blackfoot Nation musician Shawn Bullshields, as they share their traditions and art throughout the weekend, including an interactive plant walk.

Endless Fun for the Whole Family

Activities from our local community art organizations are a great way for families to create together. Add your own colourful connection to the community string art mural with the Art Gallery at Evergreen Cultural Centre, visit the Place des Arts interactive booth for fun art activities, or enjoy an art activity and exhibits in the Fraser Mills Train Station and the 1970s CP Rail Caboose with Coquitlam Heritage Society (offsite at Mackin House).
