COQUITLAM, B.C., Feb. 23, 2023 – Starting on March 1, Coquitlam organizations will have an opportunity to apply for financial support from the City through the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant program.

Coquitlam is accepting applications March 1 – 31 at www.coquitlam.ca/spiritgrant for the grant program, which supports registered not-for-profit organizations serving Coquitlam residents.

Updates to Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program

Since their launch in 2002, Spirit of Coquitlam Grants have helped hundreds of organizations host events, purchase equipment or complete initiatives or capital projects that benefit Coquitlam residents.

The City awards Spirit of Coquitlam Grants twice a year. The spring 2023 application period targets projects taking place between spring 2023 and early winter 2024.

To be eligible for a Spirit of Coquitlam Grant, projects must take place in Coquitlam, primarily benefit Coquitlam residents, be sustainable beyond the grant funding, and have outcomes that align with the City’s strategic goals. Applicants must also be in good financial standing with the City.

Individual grant amounts will vary based on the category and project. Details about the grant and application process are available at www.coquitlam.ca/spiritgrant.

The City will also be hosting webinars on March 7 and 8 designed to help organizations understand the grant criteria, application process and requirements. Details on those sessions are available on the grant website. Applicants are also encouraged to contact the Grant Coordinators at communitygrant@coquitlam.ca or 604-927-3571 to discuss their application before completing.

Timing for Grant Awards

The City will review applications in April and May. Spirit of Coquitlam Grant recommendations will be presented to Council for approval in June and successful applicants will receive funding in July.

The fall intake for the Spirit of Coquitlam grant is planned for September 2023, with funds intended to be distributed in December 2023.
